Adam Ronald Gilbertson was born on June 6, 1988 in Hastings, Minnesota.
He attended school in Randolph, graduating with the class of 2006. After high school, Adam pursued undergraduate degrees at Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota. He earned two bachelor’s degrees in 2010, with majors in international business and Spanish. Adam used those skills as a social worker with the Hennepin County Department of Human Services before making the decision that nursing was his true calling. He moved west in the spring of 2016 to enroll in the University of Wyoming’s accelerated nursing program, graduating with a bachelor’s of science in nursing the following year. Adam moved to Denver, Colorado the summer of 2017 for his dream job, serving as a hospice nurse.
Anyone who met Adam recognizes that he was an adventurous, intelligent, genuine and thoughtful man. He loved spending time with his family, developing special bonds with his nieces. He made and maintained strong friendships with many people. Whether you grew up with him or only met him a few times, Adam had an incredible ability to make everyone feel beautiful, loved and worthy. Adam truly appreciated nature’s natural beauty and often spent time hiking and exploring new places. Some of his favorite trips include traveling to Costa Rica, Ecuador, Europe, Mexico City, Spain and all over the United States. He also had a passion for the strength and balance of yoga and shared his talents with students across the nation.
Adam is survived by his parents, Doug Gilbertson (Eileen) and Tammy Gilbertson, sister Amy (Randy) Linnell, brothers Aaron (Rachel) Gilbertson and David Gilbertson, nieces Adelaide Helgren (7), Callie Gilbertson (3) and Leah Gilbertson (1), numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and so many amazing friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family appreciates donations to a perpetual scholarship in Adam’s name through the Friends of Randolph Scholars (Dollars for Scholars) program (501(c)(3)). A trust has also been established.
